Washington, D.C. – The Amplify Project, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to empowering youth through creativity and artistic expression, made a powerful debut on April 13, 2025. This inaugural event attracted over 55 community members and more than 30 talented artists, showcasing the vibrant potential of young voices in the cultural landscape. With an electric response from attendees, it was evident that the Amplify Project is addressing a significant need for platforms that celebrate creative development.
But how did an idea like this come about? Founder and CEO, Chase Vaughn had expressed that "I was upset that music students weren't given more opportunities to perform and showcase their work". In December 2024, Amplify was born, orginally intended to be a "dorm concert" quickly turned into a full scale production months later. Chase expressed that "I didn’t have any means to actually run a full concert so i pitched it to other centers in the school of business and it got shut down pretty quick [...] so I partnered With Artivism (a student organization) and it ultimately worked out". During that time Chase met Madison Theresias (Marketing Major, SOB) and they worked closely together for months the months leading up to the show, she was an integral part to Amplify's early success. The night of April 13th featured 4 live bands, which was the first of its kind, with 2 hours of non-stop music and a sold out show!

The Vision Behind Amplify
Thee Amplify Project is designed to provide artists and students with a platform to perform and showcase creative work rooted in live instrumental music, focusing on elevating the talents of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through live performances, digital media, and community engagement. Amplify's debut event took place at the historical Sankofa Cafe which was right across the street from Howard University. The intial event was intended for demonstrating the project’s commitment to fostering an environment where young individuals can share their personal stories through the creative work they put out into the world. Chase Vaughn, the founder and creative director of Thee Amplify Project, emphasized, "Our first event was about proving that when young people are given the platform to express their voice, they can inspire change and build community."
Preparing for Launch Event
Building on the momentum of its successful launch, the Amplify Project is gearing up for an even bigger impact with its next event scheduled for November 22, 2025. This upcoming gathering promises to expand the original format with new performances by local artists and musicians. Organizers anticipate over 150 attendees and are actively forming partnerships with schools, cultural institutions, and grassroots organizations throughout the city to enhance the event's outreach.
November 22nd will serve as another opportunity for performers to showcase their talents and connect with the community. Thee Amplify Project aims to create a cultural hub where young voices are amplified. The initiative's commitment to measuring success includes tracking attendance, social media engagement, partnership growth, feedback from participants, and investments ensuring that the project continues to meet the needs of the community.
Building a Community Through Concert
As the Amplify Project prepares for its upcoming event, it continues to reflect on the impact it has made since its inception. By providing a platform for youth to develop and perform their craft, the project has empowered local artists and students to express themselves in meaningful ways. With a dedication to fostering creativity and collaboration, the Amplify Project is poised to make a lasting impression on the cultural fabric of not only Howard University but Washington, D.C.
